Sarah Jane WHITING¹ (known as 'Jane'), daughter of John James WHITING (1827?-1912?) and Ann Thompson CHATT (1834?-1880?), was born in August 1857 (estimated) in Brentford, Middlesex.^2,3 She was baptised on 27 September 1857 in Brentford. The ceremony was conducted by John Young.² On 27 September 1857 she lived in Brentford.² She appeared in the census on 7 April 1861 in Brentford aged 3.⁴ The address was: Dickens' Cottages, Brentford, Middlesex. She appeared in the census on 2 April 1871 in Putney, Surrey aged 13.¹ The address was: 20 Lower Common, Putney, Surrey. She and Arthur Alfred GRANTHAM had marriage banns published on 10 December 1876 in Putney.⁵ On 24 December 1876 she lived in Putney.⁶ She married Arthur Alfred GRANTHAM on 24 December 1876 in Putney. The marriage was witnessed by Charles North and Emma Grantham. The ceremony was conducted by Robert S.
